“Who are you?”

Solo exhibition in the salons of the St. Margaret’s Church in Kaposvár – 16.01.2011.

Concept and design: Áron Babos

a
“Who are you?”

they asked Jesus. Jesus answered, «I am exactly who I told you at the beginning. There is a lot more I could say to condemn you. But the one who sent me is truthful, and I tell the people of this world only what I have heard from him.» No one understood that Jesus was talking to them about the Father. Jesus went on to say, «When you have lifted up the Son of Man, you will know who I am. You will also know that I don’t do anything on my own. I say only what my Father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. I always do what pleases him, and he will never leave me.» After Jesus said this, many of  the people put their faith in him.” (Jn 8:25-30.)

“How did I lay the foundation for the earth?”

How did I lay the foundation for the earth? Were you there? Doubtless you know who decided its length and width. What supports the foundation? Who placed the cornerstone, while morning stars sang, and angels rejoiced? When the ocean was born, I set its boundaries and wrapped it in blankets of thickest fog. Then I built a wall around it, locked the gates, and said, ‘Your powerful waves stop here! They can go no farther.’” (Job 38:4-10)

The ordering principle

The ordering principle of the exhibition is prayer as the form of life. In this case it is the rosary. The pictures seen on the walls make one string with the structure of the traditional beads. Elements indicating the Apostle’s Creed, the Lord’s Prayer and the Hail Mary appear in it. The intuitively composed thoughts of the decades fit in with this parallelism and so do the introductory thoughts and explanations and the titles of chapters between the decades to which mysteries unsaid and inexpressibly personal has been attached. Each picture owns a title that words the content in a figurative sense, an impartial description, a date of compositon and it names the means.

Autobiography (2011)

I was born in budapest on 18th May 1981. My cultural and spiritual horizon has been developed by the studies in Zoltán Kodály Musical Primary School, in the Secondary School of the Piarist Fathers in Budapest, on the Faculty of Architecture at Budapest University of Technology and Economics,  on the Faculty of Theology at Péter Pázmány Catholic University. I have collected a lot of human experience in the youth and spiritual life of the Hungarian Catholic Church, in the 205th troop of the Hungarian Scout Association, in the office of Pi-Hun Engineering ltd and in the team of the Házban Otthon Social Cooperative. I render thanks to my family, my friends and the Holy Trinity for this exhibition.

Who am I?

Who am I? Who should I be? For what purpose did the Creator create me? When I watch all over the pictures of my life till now, I can hardly be filled up with amazement. I am rich. At the same time, it cleaves through my conscience that all my wealth is simply a present. I am simply at present and mute. My heart is grateful for the way my life goes, my questions has been reevaluated. I, hereby, am sharing my gifts with you, my dear brother so as to offer an excuse by watching them to stop for a while and think over your own gifts. Dated 16 January 2011. (the 16th of January, 2011.)

In this appeal the king and the dignitaries of his realm summons up all the most talented pages nearby to gather at the king’s castle in Bernece so as to serve their country as true and heroic knights. It calls upon the Creator’s mercy to be with them and help them to be able to serve righteously both in body and mind with the help of the king’s envoys there.
