History of TestTeo’

In 2008, supported by Father Péter Roska, some of the present TestTeo’ teammembers decided to come together regularly. They were praying for the Lord’s intention and future opportunities to share testimonies about the value of sexual chastity with young people. Through the a years the group has changed and developed. In 2009, three of us took part in the 2nd International Symposium on the Theology of the Body near Dublin.

Soon we decided to read and to discuss the teaching on the theology of the body together. As a guideline, we chose the lecture series in English from the American theologian Christopher West – specialized in this teaching. Also his book called “The Theology of Body for Beginners” which has been just published earlier that year in Hungarian. Thus, a couple of years of common learning period followed. After a while we felt it would be great to tell others about these “pearls” enriching us.

That is why we started to develop a specific weekend-program in 2013. “The big dream”, the first TestTeo’ Weekend came true on the last days of January 2014, in the “upper room” of the community-house of the Heart of Jesus Church in Városmajor, Budapest with 25 participants and 6 organizers. Subsequently in the year 2014 another 140 young people participated in the program (March, August and September).

In the autumn of 2014, a dozen former participants joined the team to help organizing the weekend-programs as often as possible by sharing the various tasks. From December 2014 to 2021 there were about 25 TestTeo’ Weekends. During this time, from all over the country, a total of more than 1000 new entrants and 40-50 returning participants were present. The number of the organizing team has grown to 40.

Because of the great interest, we intend to organize the TestTeo’ Weekend even more often than before. We realize a meeting for former participants (including testimonies, sharing, holy mass and eucharistic adoration) 3 to 4 times a year. We also try to meet many other requests. We have already led spiritual days in high schools, we talked about the wonderful teaching of St. Pope John Paul II in summer camps and in community meetings. Since the fall of 2016 we have been developing a specific weekend-program for high school students, religious and married couples too.

The TestTeo’ Team

We are all volunteers. Because of our different qualifications and different states of life (living single, in partnership, engaged, married, as a seminarist, as a priest, a consecrated life) we are interested in this topic and seek the truth from a variety of perspectives. We are not all high-educated theologians, but we consider this teaching so important that we train ourselves continuously.

Why are we doing it? We are doing all of this (totally on a voluntary basis), because we acknowlegde that the teaching of Saint Pope John Paul II is a great, and for the most of us a “life-changing” treasure- Therefore we would like to know and spread more and more this teaching about the mystery of Incarnation and Redemption – that is, what the life is for what God really invites all of us.
